Hey, Besties! π― Beetle and I have officially stepped up our birding game.π¦ββ¬ We went to the San Diego Birding Festival in February and purchased our very first spotting scope. π It was a proud day. I kind of feel like we should get membership cards. π We looked at a bunch of different options and Beetle even chatted up a fellow birder who brought her own scope to one of the events. We only had two requirements: 1) that it be angled and have the ability to rotate on the tripod so that we can both enjoy it (because heβs a foot taller than me and birds wonβt wait for you to adjust the height and reset) and 2) that it not cost more than our rent. π€ The Vortex rep who helped us was great. He showed us the scopes that checked our boxes and didnβt try to upsell us. We are both very happy with our new tool.
B) I have a Pilot Vanishing Point in blue and it's one of my favorites! I consistently go back to it for day-to-day use. If you want to play around with size/weight without getting too serious, there are a lot of decent Chinese copy cat pens too. Jinhao 82 is very much like a Sailor Pro Gear Slim, Jinhao 9019 like a Namiki Emporer, Majohn A1 like the Pilot Vanishing Point. Majohn, Jinhao, and Hong Dian all make some pretty decent fountain pens (at least for people like me that aren't *serious* collectors).
What are you talking about?!? Your sketch is great, mine is a warped nuclear bunnies style piece.
A) love the birding adventures ... how cool!
